SCENE 55 (cont) - The Wedding of Robin and Marian

Then, the happy party dispersed and the procession of friends followed Robin and Marian as they passed once more through the church doors, man and wife.

Out through the cheering streets they went, while the forest men ran ahead and flung gold coins right and left in their joy. The crowds cheered and toasted to their health and the King’s. Thus, amid rejoicing and kingly favor, Robin Hood, the new Earl of Huntingdon, and Marian his true love began their wedded life and, as the tale has been told, lived happily ever after.
