The Ina Moriss Harper Residence, 207 Sunnybank, was built in 1950. The living room of this L plan turns from the bedroom axis to gain a view of Lake Michigan, directly across Lake Shore Drive. The steep pitch of the living room roof reflects the light into the room when the sun is low on the lake. Salmon-colored brick and cypress are employed throughout. The brick is often called "Chicago Common" and is an inexpensive, soft brick used in many buildings throughout the Midwest. After reading an article in House Beautiful magazine by Loren Pope, an earlier Wright client, Mrs. Harper contacted Wright for a design on her own.
