Mosier, 39, grocer, born Indiana [as were all family members]; Sophrinia Mosier, 27; Mary Mosier, 14; Alvira Mosier, 12; John Mosier, 16; Catherine Mosier, 10; John? Mosier, 1; Henry Mosier, 3 months. All except Henry and John? were probably children of Christian's first marriage to Sarah Burger. John Mosier listed as age 16 was not included in 1850 Census; could be a nephew or an adopted son.

Lists Christian Mosier (age 50) and Sophronia (age 37) with 8 children: John S., 11; Henry C., 10; William F., 8; Emma B., 6; Charles M., 4; David P., 3, Hattie M., 1; Martha, 5 mo. All are shown as having been born in Indiana. Lists Christian's occupation as "Grocery and Coffee House" and Sophronia as "Keeping house". Mary Blair is included in household; age: 48, place of birth: Virginia, occupation: "Housekeeper". She is possibly a sister of Sophronia.

Lists Christian Mosier (age 59) and Sophronia (age 46) with 8 children: John S., 21; William, 19; Emma B., 16; Charles M., 14; David P., 13; Hattie M., 11; Martha V., 9; Florence, 7. Christian's occupation is "Hotel Proprietor", John is "Laborer", William is "Barber", and Sophronia is "Keeping house". All family members are shown as having been born in Indiana. Sophronia's parents are both shown as having been born in Virginia.

And the said Mary Moser and Sally Moser, wives of said John and Christian being of full age and by me examined separate and apart from and without the hearing of their said husbands after having said Deed fully explained to them by me, declared that they executed the same voluntarily and without coercion or compulsion from their said husbands. OBITUARY: "Christian Mosier, an old and esteemed citizen of Greenville township, died on the 6th, after a long and painful illness. His funeral took place on the 7th, and was largely attended. He leaves a family and many friends to mourn his death." [New Albany Ledger, 18 Sep 1882, pg 4/col 2]
