OCCUPATION: Longsawyer

Jacques made the crossing on ship Saint-Nicolas as part of the Grande Recrue.
Enlisting as a land clearer, he was promised 75 livres per year and acknowledged receiving 114 livres advance wages before departure (20 Jun 1653; notary Belliotte). At Montréal, he received a land grant from Governor Maisonneuve on 20 Aug 1655 and became a soldier in the 14th squadron of the Sainte-Famille militia in 1663.

1681 Census shows the family in Repentigny.

Jacques married Marguerite Sauviot, daughter of Jean Sauviot dit Lavergne and Louise Brodeur, on 16 Sep 1658 in Montréal, Québec, Canada.1 (Marguerite Sauviot was baptized on 14 Jul 1641 in Ste-Marguerite, La Rochelle, Aunis, France 1 and died between 1681 and 1687 in Repentigny, L'Assomption, Québec, Canada 2.)
