1744 (Public Colonial records Conn. IX, p. 50) By the Assembly Abraham Wanzer was appointed lieutenant of the company or train band of south society in New Fairfield, CT and ordered commissioned accordingly. ABRAHAM WANZER WILL [source: Wm. D. In the name of God, amen. I, Abraham Wanzer, of New Fairfield in the County of Fairfield, State of Connecticut, being sick and weak in body but perfect in mind and memory, thanks be to God for the same, calling to mind and memory the mortality of this body, and that is appointed to all men once to die, so make and ordain this to be my last will and testament; that is to say, First, I recommend my soul unto the hands of God that gave it, and my body to the earth to be buried in a decent manner at the discretion of my executor; and as to my worldly estate wherewith it hath please God to bless me with in this world, I give and bequeath in the following manner and form, after all my debts and funeral charges are paid. ITEM. I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Deborah, the use of all my estate both real and personal, during her natural life. ITEM. I give unto my son Anthony Wanser[sic] twenty shillings lawful money. ITEM. I give and bequeath unto Eliard Wanzer, the youngest son of my son Anthony Wanzer, three acres of land, bounded north and easterly on highway, and southerly on my son Anthony's land, and westerly on my own land. ITEM. I give and bequeath unto my granddaughter, Sarah Leach, all my household goods and furniture after the decease of my wife Deborah, to be her own forever. ITEM. I give and bequeath unto the sons of Moses Wanzer, my eldest son deceased, one-third part of all my estate, both real and personal, excepting what I have above given to my son Anthony and his youngest son, and granddaughter Sarah Leach; and they paying twenty shillings lawful money unto their two sisters Abigail and Elizabeth, apiece; that is, forty shillings for each of them to pay to their said sisters. ITEM. I give and bequeath unto my only daughter, Deborah Leach, the wife of Amos Leach of New Milford, one-third part of my estate, both real and personal, excepting what I gave to my son Anthony and his son, and Sarah aforesaid. ITEM. I give and bequeath unto Eliard Wanzer, the aforesaid son of my said son Anthony, the other third part of all my estate, both real and personal, excepting what I gave to my son Anthony and his son, and Sarah Leach, as aforesaid mentioned, and in what I gave to my daughter Deborah. And furthermore, it is my will that my land be divided equally in quantity and quality, and that it be divided lengthways, north and south. Likewise, all my other land, divided and undivided, to be equally divided between the sons of my son Moses, and daughter Deborah Leach, and Eliard Wanzer, as aforesaid. And I do hereby ordain and appoint Stephen Pepper, Senior, to be my sole executor of this, my last will and testament; and I do hereby revoke all former wills and testaments heretofore by me made, ratifying this and this only to be my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have set my hand and seal, and have published, pronounced and declared this to be my last will and testament, this 27th day of April, A.D. 1768. Cook, Esq., Judge. Stephen Pepper, the person appointed executor of the foregoing will exhibited the same for Probation, which being proved, is approved and ordered to be recorded; and the said Stephen Pepper declined accepting the trust.
