The mother of Gisela de Bourgogne is considered by some genealogists to be Étiennette de Longwy (Longuy) and by others to be Stephanie of Barcelona. Ketil Nygaard's Genealogy indicates that these are different names for the same person. However, various genealogies are seen on the Internet where parents of Stephanie of Barcelona are shown as Raimond Berengar II of Barcelona and Mathilde d'Apulia (Maud Guiscard); parents of Étiennette de Longwy are shown in various genealogies as Adalbert III de Longwy and Clemence de Foix.
Gisela married Umberto II Conte di Savoia, son of Amadeo II Conte di Savoia and Giovanna of Geneva, about 1090.1 (Umberto II Conte di Savoia died on 18 Sep 1103 2.)
