Daniel Streing 1 2 3
Daniel was listed as a refugee shortly after the revokation of the Edict of Nantes by Louis XIV October 18, 1685. Daniel is listed in the Letter of Denization of March 3, 1688 in London along with wife Charlotte and children Peter, Matthew, Mary & Ann. Daniel was involved in the initial layout of town of New Rochelle in 1687, so must have visited here prior to bringing his family. Probably sailed from England to New York via Boston. Began living in New Rochelle but was made a Freeman in the City of New York March 30, 1695 and moved there to open an ale house. Before 1704 he moved to Rye opening a tavern there. Daniel married Charlotte Le Maistre on 21 Aug 1680 in Orléans, Loiret, France. (Charlotte Le Maistre was born on 23 Mar 1663 in Giens, Loire Valley, Orléans, France and died on 23 Oct 1726 in Rye, Westchester Co, New York, USA.) |
