BIOGRAPHY: On 22 Oct 1669 he bought land at Seignery D'Autray (atLanoraie on the St. Lawrence River east of Montreal and across the riverfrom Sorel).
On 13 July 1674 Jean sold his land at D'Autray and rented a farm at IlePerrot. Jean is working for Francois Perrot, but this arrangement isn'tworking. Francois is illegally giving Indians brandy for their furs andJean doesn't want to be part of this. He leaves Ile Perrot and moves inwith Jean Gervaise in Ville Marie.
On 10 Dec 1678 Jean obtains a concession of 120 arpents of land at BaieD'Urfe.
On 26 Oct 1682 Jean sells his land a Baie D'Urfe and gets a concessionfrom the Sulpicians for 120 arpents. This new lot in Baie D'Urfe islocated at Pointe St. Louis, adjacent to the land reserved for the parishchurch. This land today runs from Caron Point to the railroad tracts.Present day Baie D'Urfe streets Westchester, Warwick, Cornwall, Victoriaand Surrey, run across the property. Dorset runs down the middle of it.At the waterfront Baie D'Urfe Yacht club occupies it.
OCCUPATION: Plowman and churchwarden for the Haut de l'Ile mission whichis associated with the Lachine parish.
BURIAL: Jean was killed while working in the fields.
BURIAL: He and the nine other Frenchmen who were killed by Iroquis onthat day were buried at the Baie d'Urfe, near the location of what wouldbe the church of St. Louis du Haut de l'Ile. These bodies were discoveredin 1866 and reinterred in the church of St. Anne du Bout de l'Ile.
IMMIGRATION: Solider in the Sorel company of the Carignan-Salieresregiment. Arrived on the ship Aigle D'or or St. Simeon in the third weekof August 1665. (maybe) They made this assumption because all of thewitnesses and the notary at his marriage belonged to this regiment.
